.CO Landrush is Now Closed!
Thank you for submitting your .CO Landrush application(s) with Webnames.ca. .CO Landrush closed on July 15th, 2010. Below is more information on the .CO landrush auction and domain allocation process.
.CO Landrush Application Process
Landrush is the first phase that a person can obtain a domain name that is not trademarked. It also allows for registration of names or names that may be in demand by multiple parties.
.CO domain names applied for during Landrush will not be assigned on a first come first serve basis.
If a domain name is requested by two or more parties during Landrush it will be subject to an auction process with the highest bidder winning.
All applicants will be notified at the end of Landrush (eg. approximately July 20th, or shortly thereafter) whether their .CO domain application was successful, or if it has gone to auction.
What if the .CO Domain I Want Goes to Auction?
If a domain name is requested by two or more parties it will enter into an auction process managed by an external provider, Pool.com. All interested parties will have the option to bid on the domain.
The auction timeline will be approximately 4-8 weeks after the end of the Landrush phase. The highest bidder will get the domain name. The .CO Registry and Pool.com will send an email with information and instructions to all parties entering into auction.
There are two types of bidding in .CO Landrush auctions:
Manual Bidding - This requires the customer to monitor the auction. They submit a bid, and if someone outbids, they will receive an email notification. They have 24 hours to submit a new bid to maintain the status as the highest bidder.
Automated Bidding - No need to monitor bids. Every time someone outbids you, the system automatically enters a bid for you — at least $10 higher than the current bid. You may also set any increment amount as long as it is higher than the registry’s minimum amount. To prevent yourself from paying too much, you are able to set a maximum bid amount — which stops the system from automatically entering the bid for you. Should your maximum amount be outbid, you have the opportunity to increase your maximum or leave the system as is. If you choose to leave the system as is, you will no longer have the opportunity to win the auction.
