What is SSL?

SSL stands for ‘Secure Socket Layer’ and is a commonly used protocol for managing the security of a message transmission over the Internet.

The SSL protocol employs a cryptographic system of public and private keys to secure communications and provide authentication over the Internet. What is an SSL certificate?

SSL certificates are used to secure the transfer of confidential information, such as credit card numbers and visitor details.
