SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data − a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message. Many websites, including those that utilize ecommerce or facilitate banking transactions use the protocol to transmit confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http: Certificate will be provided by way of a Issuance email. The issued Certificate is sent via email to Contact specified in the Configuration process.

Aside from the SSL Certificate itself, the Issuance email contains installation instructions for the Certificate, any necessary Intermediate Certificates, as well as Site Seals for use on the associated website.

Once the certificate is issued and has been received, it needs to be installed on the intended web server.
