Preparation

What you'll need:

Website Outline

A brief summary, list or sketch of the topics you'd like to cover on your webpage. This outline is just for your own reference and will help keep you on track. You''ll be designing a single long-form webpage, so an outline that fits on a single piece of paper will serve as a good representation of what will become your LiteSite webpage.

You'll be drawing from a palate of:

Refer to our selection of LiteSite templates for further inspiration for the outline of your webpage.

Website Copy

Once you have your outline, and have a good idea of the topics you want to cover, you'll next want to start writing. While you certainly can come up with your website copy on the fly while you are designing, it's usually better to split these into separate tasks so you can stay focused and not get distracted. You can always come back and edit your copy once you get to the point later on where you are inserting into your webpage.

Website Images

Imagery can make or break the appeal of your website, so the importance of good image choice cannot be overstated. To this end, don't be afraid to purchase professional images. They are relatively inexpensive, there is a huge selection, and they can make all the difference.

Choose images that:

Fit the space: Use images that are the right shape for the space you wish them to occupy. Cropping images to fit is always an option, but be careful to not crop so much that the image would next need to be stretched out to fit the intended space.

Are the right size: Photos that are stretched beyond their original sizes will loose clarity and become pixelated. Do everything you can to only use high-quality, high-resolution photos, and if necessary size them down (and optionally, crop) to fit the intended space. A free online tool such as https://resizeimage.net/ will provide good results for resizing images.

Use colors appropriately: Your site will eventually have a color theme, and like painting or decorating a room in your home, you'll want the colors and esthetics to compliment one another.
