If you have never used Mail on your Mac before, you will be asked to create an email address as soon as you launch the program, as indicated in the screenshot below. If you already have a mail account on your computer, you will need to use these steps:

  1. Open Mail
  2. Click on the Mail menu, and then select Accounts....

  1. In the Incoming Outgoing Mail Server Info window, enter the following information:
    • SMTP Server: securemail.webnames.ca
    • User Name: Full Email Address
    • Password: Your Password
  2. Click Create

  1. After a length of time the message Additional account information requiredClick Next

  1. In the subsequent Outgoing Mail Server Info window, enter / select the following:
    • Port: 587 (Optionally, port 465)
    • Use SSL: Enabled
    • Authentication: Password
  2. Click Create

  1. After creating the account, an additional setting change must be done regarding SMTP authentication. Close any account setup windows and click Mail -> Preferences...

  1. Beside Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): in the drop-down menu, click Edit SMTP Server List...

  1. Uncheck the box labeled Automatically detect and maintain account sesstions
  2. Check the box labeled Allow insecure authentication.
  3. Click OK
  4. Close the Accounts window, and setup is now complete.
