Blackberry using IMAP w/SSL

The addition of a new mail account to your Blackberry is best handled through your cellphone provider's online Blackberry Portal.

To integrate an IMAP email account through advanced integration using your provider's Blackberry Portal, complete the following steps:

In order to log into your provider's BIS portal, you may need to know your BlackBerry devices PIN and ESN/MEID information, which can usually be found in your phone’s settings Status section, on the box it came in or under the battery on the back of the phone.

• Log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account with the user name and password.
• Click Set Up Email to begin the integration process.
• Choose to Add an existing email account
• Enter your details:
  • Email Address: Full Email Address
  • Password: Your Password
• Click Next
• If there is an issue with integrating the email account, it will prompt to provide further information.
• Manually provide the settings to integrate the email account by clicking the provide additional settings link.

Note: In some cases, I will provide the settings may not appear. To force this option to appear, enter an invalid email address such as user@domain.com and an invalid password. Be sure to re-type the correct email and password once the advanced settings are made available.

• Choose provide additional settings, identify the integration as POP/IMAP and provide the advanced settings:
  • Email Address: Full Email Address
  • Password: Your Password
  • Email Server: securemail.webnames.ca
  • Username: Full Email Address
• Click Next.
• On the General Settings screen, enter in your optional information as desired:
  • Email account name: A name of your choosing in order to visually recognize the email account within your account list
  • Reply to: The address you wish to have replies sent to
  • Your Name: Your name as you wish it to appear to recipients of your email
  • Signature: Compose a signature to be automatically appended to each of your emails.
  • Synchronize: Enable this option is you wish to have the mail you delete on your BlackBerry also be deleted from our mailserver at the same time.
• On the Advanced Settings screen, enter in the following required information:
  • Email Server: securemail.webnames.ca
  • Port: 993
  • SSL: Enabled
