Expediting Domain Transfers
Domain transfers can be expedited by doing the following:
Ensure that the current WHOIS information is valid. For most transfers, the Admin contact of the domain will need to provide some form of authorization via email. It is essential that the email address (and other contact info) be correct. Use the tool on our WHOIS page to verify the information. If necessary, update it through the current Registrar before initiating a transfer
Request that the losing Registrar approve the transfer. Once the transfer has been initiated at the Registry (i.e. the domain status shows: Pending Transfer The status assigned to domains which are formally undergoing a transfer from one Registrar to another. via a WHOIS lookup), for most domain types (.CAs are excluded) the domain will remain in this Pending Transfer period for a period of time, which is typically 5 calendar days.
At the end of the 5 day Pending Transfer period, the domain will transfer to the gaining Registrar by default.
This 5 day period can however be expedited by the losing Registrar A domain name registrar is an organization or commercial entity that manages the reservation of Internet domain names. A domain name registrar must be accredited by a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry and/or a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry. The management is done in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries and to offer such services to the public. explicitly approving the transfer away from them via the respective Registry
A domain name registry is a database of all domain names registered in a top-level domain. A registry operator, also called a network information center (NIC), is the part of the Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet that keeps the database of domain names, and generates the zone files which convert domain names to IP addresses.. Contact the losing Registrar and request that the domain transfer be approved by them. The transfer will complete immediately upon approval being given by the losing Registrar. The is a special request, and one which a Registrar may not be immediately set up to accommodate. It can be done however - ensure you talk to the right people at the losing Registrar.
