Domain Cancellation Procedures
Domain names are registered in one year increments, and are typically not canceled early, but rather allowed to expire at the end of their registration term.
For domains that are set to renew automatically:
We will attempt to renew the domain 30 days prior to its expiration, using the payment method specified at the time auto-renewal was enabled for the domain. You will receive a notice seven days in advance of this renewal attempt. If you do not wish to not renew the domain, please notify us as soon as possible after receiving notice, or disable the auto-renew setting on the domain.
Because domain Registries do not offer refunds, nor offer a renewal-undo function, domain renewals cannot be reversed nor refunded.
For domains that require manual renewal:
If your domain is not set to auto-renew, then you will need to manually renew it via our website. If you wish to discontinue the domain, you may choose to not renew it, and it will expire on its own starting on the domain expiration date. You do not need to contact us specifically if you wish to let a manually renewed domain expire.
NOTE: Almost all domain extensions offer a grace period should an expired domain need to be recovered. Please see the domain extension section of this FAQ page for more details about this process.
If you do wish to have a domain name deleted from the respective Registry A domain name registry is a database of all domain names registered in a top-level domain. A registry operator, also called a network information center (NIC), is the part of the Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet that keeps the database of domain names, and generates the zone files which convert domain names to IP addresses. prior to the domain's expiration date, please contact us directly.
