Reviewing and updating Domain ownership (Registrant) information
The ownership of a domain is part of a domain's registration. By looking up a domain via a WHOIS lookup, the publicly available information regarding a domain, and its ownership, can be found.
The ownership information displayed should be considered the de facto version. This is the information that will be used and relied upon should there ever be a dispute over ownership of a domain. It is therefore essential that this information always be kept current and accurate (this not only includes your name, but your contact information as well).

NOTE: There are two items that can affect the domain ownership information displayed in a WHOIS lookup: Webnames.ca Privacy If you have applied Webnames.ca Privacy to the Registrant of a domain, your contact details will be replaced with that of our generic contact information. Registry Privacy The .CA Registry (along with a few others, such as .TEL) afford a certain level of privacy to Registrants who have designated themselves to be of a non-commercial or organization nature (i.e. the domain is registered to an individual, and not a company or group). In these cases, the Registry will not display any Registrant information when a WHOIS lookup is done on a related domain. |
