In addition to following best practices such as safeguarding your password, assigning an in-house domain administrator and maintaining consistent Registrant information, you can now limit access to your domain portfolio by IP Address.


What is Account Lock?

Webnames.ca's Account Lock is a security feature that allows an Account Owner to restrict access to the account by IP address or IP Address range.

How Does Webnames.ca Account Lock work?

Once the Account Lock feature has been activated by Webnames.ca, the account owner can self manage (add, change and delete) the list of IP address(es) simply by logging into their Webnames.ca account.

If a login attempt is made from an IP address that is not approved, the login will be rejected and an error message returned.

Identity Verification Required for Purchase

  1. Prior to activating the Account Lock feature, an Authorization Form with photo identification must be completed by the Account Owner.
  2. After the Authorization Form is reviewed and verified, a Webnames.ca representative will activate Account Lock on the specified account.
